Tiger Heron - Black Hawk

Here's another shot from our recent Costa Rica trip.  This juvenile Bare-throated Tiger Heron was none too happy that this juvenile Common Black Hawk swooped down into it's territory.  I suppose I wish I was a bit wider to avoid clipping the wings but I was really happy to get this.

I would be happy also if I had taken this great action shot!  You have nice colors and good details in this photo as well as sharp wings.  Thanks for sharing.

Tough to get something like this even with a zoom lens, Nate.  it's usually much too fast to do anything but pull the trigger and hope.  Great action adn the detail in both birds is superb.

Great action shot Nate, the kicked up mud from the hawk emphasizes both displeasure of the heron the hasty retreat of the hawk. The clipped wings are no factor at all IMO. Nice capture!devil

This is superb avian photographic narrative, Nate. The clipped wings of the hawk are inconsequential, however I’d seriously consider adding a small amount of canvas to the LHS in order to ‘doctor’ the missing tips of the heron’s primaries. I’d need no small amount of courage to adopt your fully recumbent position when taking this shot! David
