Lipan Delight

Northern Arizona was predicted by % cloud cover to have a good sunset last evening as a front was moving into the state. I needed to take a few photographs in the park, so I stopped at Lipan Point for sunset. It was windy and some lenticular clouds had formed in late afternoon. By sunset, they were breaking down but still created a spectacular event in the sky. This is one of the best sunsets I've caught at the Big Ditch.

Doug: Spectacular lighting and I love how the curve of the clouds mimics the lay of the land. Well seen and a superb capture of a magical moment.>=))>

Excellent sunset and subject.   Colors, lines and textures are perfect.   Plus, I like, that you captured the horseshoe shape in the back and side cliffs.

This is a great image and it's hard to do something new when taking the Grand Canyon. But the cloud is perfect and you have it in a great place with the ridges in the foreground leading the eye right there. Or maybe in this case the cloud leads the viewer to the ground and towards the front of the image. Congratulations on capturing this wonderful moment.

This is wonderful. The light, color and contrast are spot-on. I like the leading line of the ridge leading toward the canyon. No nits here. Very sweet image!

Thanks all.  I thought the canyon needed just a little more depth as it looked a little flat, so I have gone back and added some very gentle contrast and levels adjustments in luminosity mode.

Great clouds and the grandness of the canyon to match.  I was going to suggest additional mid tone contrast in the canyon since it looks a little flat.  Canyons are tough to portray all of the textures at this time of day when there really isn't any direct light creating shadows.  Impressive view and capture.

Talk about a spectacular view and sky! The warm glow in the canyon walls is superb, Doug. No suggestions from me.

What a gorgeous take on this amazing location. The soft light really shows off the dramatic landscape and you have the perfect sky to go with it. Congrats on really beautiful photograph. A large print would be quite something to view.
