Sora?

...at least that's what I think it is. I've shot the larger rails in Bayou Sauvage, but never noticed one of these before. Looks like a juvenile transitioning to adult. Cropped to 60% of RAW to remove clutter.

Sora, yes. You are probably right about the juvenile status. The juvies of most species seem to not have the flight/hide syndrome fully nailed down.

A lovely shot of an immature Sora, Bill. If it were my composition, I'd have a little more room at the top and a little less at the bottom.  Nice color palette.

Great to have one out in the open like this. A lower viewpoint would have made it even better, but I like it as presented. The colors of the water make for a perfect framing of this beautiful rail ! Well done, cheers, Hans

A real pleasing pose, water, detail, and reflection.  The brown tones add to a nice composition.

Beautiful capture, Bill.  The light reflecting off of the water really lit up the subject nicely.  Great reflections too.

Sweet image, Bill.  I agree with Jim about the composition.  My only other nit is that it looks like you may have repaired some hot spots on the bill, but didn't do so in the reflection of it.  If it's just a natural artifact, I'd still clean them up in the reflection as they draw my eye.

Indeed, and really well done Bill. Tough to get these guys out in the open. Nice detail and colors too.
