Naupaka on Lava

Naupaka (Scaevola sericea) is a native plant to Hawaii.  I found this one on the Big Island in a lava field.  This is a very common plant along the coast and in low mountains.  I posted another version of this image in the landscape gallery and here it is with suggested improvements.  I misidentified the plant in the original posting.  Some brown leaves that disturbed other viewers have been cloned away.  Taken in January 2018.

David, the bright, smooth green leaves stand out very well against the dark lava.  The texture contrast adds interest as well.  This picture shows off the resilience of life very well.
