Here's a Tufted Puffin running along the water taken during the boat trip we do each year during our Washington trip.
Canon 1DX II, Sigma 150-600 at 600mm 1/1600 F8, iso 1000, handheld

Excellent shot, Nate. I like your crop with the previous footstep showing as it gives a great idea of the stride length. Detail in the Puffin is very good.

Nice catch, Nate. Even birds use landing gear for takeoff, too. How's that Sigma working for you?

Thanks for your comments everyone. Bill, I recently bought the Canon 100-400 II, it's sharper and focuses more closely than the Sigma 150-600 so I am using it for some macro work too. I still think the Sigma is a nice lens, but I actually gave it to one of my guides who didn't have a long lens.

Thanks for your response, Nate. I notice that got this one in breeding plumage. I agree about the 100-400 for macro work.

Good action shot! The larger image shows the detail in the black plumage a lot better than the smaller image. The centered subject works well in this photo. Nice water.
