I posted this a while ago as a black and white but was not totally happy with it.  I have had time to work on the color version and this is the result.

D800,18-35 at 21 mm., ISO 640, f14,1/320 sec, hand held.

Comments and suggestions welcomed.

The warm tones in this make the color a clear winner for me.  The tonal differences in the b/w are okay, but for me, it's all about the touches of gold that lead me into and through the gate.  Very nice.

Kathy: the warm tones throughout the frame make for a very pleasant visual experience. Richard

I agree with the comments about the colors. But the thing that drew me to the image is the composition. You can see just enough detail through the open gate that it makes you want to go in and see what is there. Just a little sense of mystery. Very nice.

This is a lovely invitation to walk through the gate and up the stairs. The colors and light are wonderful, and the dark overall tones make it feel mysterious too. The one nit, and it is small, is the bright area in the upper right corner. I would burn that down.
Great job and congrats on the weekly pick.
