Glacial Waves

I'm posting  this not because it is a particularly beautiful scene, but because it shows a very unusual occurrence of pressure waves caused by a glacier. At least, they are unusual for me. These pressure waves are caused by fresh ice pushing down into the field.. The waves are similar to the ripples caused by a stone thrown into a pond, but that's where the similarity ends. I've darkened the mid-tones a bit in the wave area to make them more prominent. Too much given that it was mid-day in late December? Last, I converted to BW. Olympus E-M1 and 12-40 lens at 1/2000, f/6.3 and ISO 200.

An interesting phenomenon; thanks for sharing it. Makes me think of an amphitheater.

Very cool Richard!  I have never seen that phenomenon before.

That is interesting I am assuming this is on a a massive scale and not just a small scale image.  There is very little to give away the dimensions of the scene we are looking at.

Richard, thank you for sharing this unusual phenomena with us, it's really interesting to see.

As an abstract image, it has a lot of visual interest and works really well for me. There is a nice "flow'  to this image. The processing of the mid-tones in the "wave" area looks okay to my eye. I think you could maybe even add a little more contrast to the wave area to make it pop more, but that is a matter of personal taste.

I like this. There's certainly enough here to hold a viewers interest.

Very interesting phenomena, and you did a good job pulling this off. You could tweak this a little more, as Ed suggests. Just curious as to the location.

This does have a nice abstract quality to it and I also like the lack of scale in this scene, Richard. The processing looks great and thanks for sharing the additional info as to the cause of the ripples.
