Orange-crown Visible!

It is rare that the orange crown on the Orange-crowned Warbler is visible,.  Of the scores of this species I have seen over the years, I think I have only seen the crown a very few times.  Thus, I was thrilled to not only see it but to photograph it from a ground-level blind in south Texas in February when it bathed in a pool in front of me.  I guess that when it's wet ike this, the crown is much more likely to be seen.  Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EF500mm f/4L IS II USM + 1.4X III at 700mm, manual exposure f/8 at 1/1250th, ISO 1500.

Nice detail in the bird and the orange crown is amazing, as I too have rarely seen it and when I do it isn't as vivid and expansive as here.  The splashing water is a nice bonus.  Well done.

Nice catch Chuck. I have never seen the orange crown. These are difficult to ID for me. Not with this look. Nice action, great color and good detail with all the motion.

Very nice. The detail is great. The effect of the water spray is very effective
