Chaparral Heifer

This young heifer was hanging out at the waterhole at the Chaparral Wildlife Management Area near Artesia Wells, TX. It was surprising the lighting that came though the overcast sky and the shade.  I really liked the nice curious pose it gave me while I took its picture.  Not to mention those beautiful cow eyes.  Canon 60D, f5, 1/200 sec, iso 640, 100-400 ISL at 227mm, handheld from car window, full width, cropped slightly off of the top.

Very nice portrait of this pretty heifer, Ed.  I love her color. I also like that there is another cow right behind her that is nicely out of focus, but is the same color, and seems to be posing the exact same way.  Nicely done.  Lighting is really complimentary.

Lovely detail with a perfect depth of field for the image and a very nice look she was giving you, Ed.

Well done, Ed. A beautiful creature in great soft light, super good detail, DOF and framing, and an appealing pose to boot. Most excellent, sir!

Beautiful portrait Ed!  Very nice pose too.  The light is about perfect.  So is your exposure and depth.  Well done!
