This character was checking me out as I was heading out to my car. People feed the animals including the resident sandhill cranes and they are always looking for a snack. It was dark, and dreary, but enough light to get some reasonable. I like the D500--with practice, I expect my images to continue to improve. D500 300 mm f4 (1/250 sec at f4.5, Iso 800) Levels, Topaz Detail, slight bump up in contrast......................................Jim

Very nice, Jim. I didn't know there were nesting Sandhills in your neck of the woods. Fantastic detail.

Hey Jim,
Sweet portrait of this Sandhill and that great background really makes it POP. The light, detail and color are all spot on.
Looks to me like the new D500 is working out well . . . laugh
