Spotted Towhee

This guy's been coming around to the feeding station at my blind all spring, but the shot's I've gotten up to now have been pretty blah looking.  I finally caught him with a pretty fair head turn and some tension in his posture this morning.  Since these are large relative to finches and warblers and have a long tail, I'm always having trouble fitting them in the frame, even with a zoom (I usually like to shoot first to get something, then zoom).  In this case, that meant I had to add canvas on the top and right to give him a little room.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 531 mm, tripod with ballhead and Sidekick, f/8, 1/160, iso 2000, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  With the added canvas, it's just slightly over 6000x4000 pixels.  I cloned out some drip tubing and a zip tie that are used for my pond drip.  Taken this morning at 7:43 am under cloudy skies.

Your comments and critiques are always apprecieated.

Thanks for taking a look,

I like the pose, colors and sharpness of the image.  I have found it difficult to get a good photo of the towhees we have here with as good details.  Thanks for sharing.

I like this a lot Dennis. Great detail, with a nice engaging pose, perch, and background. You’re getting some nice shots from home.

I really like the pose and perch on this image.  Really good color without over saturating.  Anytime you can get a Towhee off the ground is a good thing.  Excellent composition.  I do think the focus on the purchase a little soft towards the left side but there's probably not much you can do about that without over sharpening.

Love it!  Great detail, pose and a wonderful background.  One of the best images of this species I have seen.
