The calm sea

Taken atop the cliffs at Seaford on the south coast of England, just as the sun was beginning to set. There are iconic cliffs to the left and right, so it was nice to take a slightly different perspective on this shot.

Beautiful sea and sky. I did some scroll cropping and I think I prefer it without the land in the foreground. Works nicely as presented, but I find it more engaging cropped, more emphasizing the sky for me.

Very nice lighting and great colors in the water.  Like the clouds and the various colors in the sky.  I like the land in the foreground, gives the scene some context and I like the sense of progression from land to sea to sky.  Well done.devil

I think I agree with Harley. I like the land for context, but the sky is the star of the image and if it were cropped from the bottom in a more pano format it would emphasize the sky more. My eye wants to go to the sky, but keeps getting hung up on the rocks.

I vote for keeping the land as an anchor.  Doesn't stop my eye from roaming into the water and sky.  This has a strong calm flow.

Simon, That sky is absolutely beautiful and this has a wonderful calm feel. Very natural too! For me it works best without the land in the comp. Nice work Simon!
