Waldviertel Wilderness

The Waldviertel (Forest Quarter) is a region in the northwest of the Austrian state Lower Austria. This is an image from a hidden place that is called "Schütt" which is best translated bei "buried", because the river bed of the Kamp was buried by massive granite rocks a long time ago.

Last week we had the chance to spend a wonderful time there hiking along this river.

Comments and critique are welcome.

Peter, This is really, really nice and it is a wonderful view of this hidden place. The water motion looks great and the detail / textures are excellent. Natural and beautiful!! Wasn't sure about the rock in the lower right at first but after looking at the large version I think it is fine. Would work either way. Love the processing you did on this. Cheers, Nick

This is beautifully done, Peter.  I like the circle that is formed by the flow of the water and the way that it leads my eye around the frame.  The trees at the top add a nice splash of green.  One suggestion would be to lighten the highlights a bit to add contrast especially in the trees in the upper part of the frame.

Cool spot!  The water color is a bit off putting tbh but so it goes :p  Might dodge the greens in the back for a bit of extra pop but works well as presented too.  Fun!

Peter, this is a fine composition. Shutter speed looks good for the water. I'm not sure about the rock in the LRC, but it is a lovely scene nonetheless. I could see a little dodging to the trees as others have suggested.

Peter, this is a beauty.  The back and forth of the water and how it's emphasized by your ss choice makes a great lead into the distant woods.  The larger version is notably improved in showing the details.  The big rock (and it's greenness) in the lower right is a pleasant surprise.  I agree that some dodging of the greens at the top would add to the eye pull into the distance.

What a gorgeous woodland scene Peter. I love the water action which provides so my movement and energy to the composition. The forest in the background is a nice anchor and looks like an interesting place to explore.

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

This is all about the flow, and it works perfectly for me.  The color is fine -it is what it is!

Peter, I really like the composition here with the standing trees in the background contrasting with the powerful movement of the water.  Obviously the rocks around which the water is swirling are an integral part of the image too.  Nicely chosen shutter speed to produce the beautiful water rapids.  A very lovely image.

Nice peaceful water scene. I did a scroll crop on the large version and I prefer it with the lower right rock cropped out. Very much a personal preference, of course. Nice image.
