Argiope and Horse Fly

I had a really good time in Jean Lafitte last Sunday with nice weather, but a bit breezy most of the time. While there I met a really nice young family who I'll keep in touch with. This gal had snared a meal, black horse fly I think, and was in the process of enjoying the bounty. The abdomen size indicates she's expecting a family, so this meal will benefit the brood. Shot from around 4-5 feet away, full height cropped to 4:3 aspect from sides.

Hi Bill,

Spider and prey look good.  I'll always root for the spider whenever they snag a horse fly. Well done.....................Jim

Got Dinner.  Knowing how big the Argiope's are, that's quite a meal that she's caught, Bill.  You've got fine colors in the spider and background and excellent detail in both the spider and her prey as well as her web stiffener.  A fine find.

Bill: never have liked horseflies enlightened. I really like the detail and the fine colors that you've captured in this one. The subjects are well defined against the oof background. Richard
