Laphria thoracica & Prey

The bumblebee robber fly Laphria thoracica captured a 4-lined plant bug. Without a descent Nikon macro lens, I used the 300 f4 with a 1.4x teleconverter. Tack sharp and results about as good as a photo taken with a long tele-macro lens. D500 420mm (1/160 sec at f16, Iso 800), Levels, Topaz Detail, Shadows & Highlights, Topaz DeNoise...........................Jim

Jim, the details in the fly's front parts as well as the pray are outstanding.  I'm also loving the iridescence in the wing.  A great shot.

I really like the frontal poses, Jim. The comp and colors are great. A very fine image.

Fine detail, colors and composition!  Good catch of this activity, bad day for the 4-lined plant bug!  Thanks for sharing.

This one is really good for a long lens Jim.  Great DOF and detail with both Robber fly and the plant bug.
