Black-headed Grosbeak

I constructed a new small bathing area as an upper level for the pond at my permanent blind and got it going a few days ago.  This was the second bird using it that I had in front of my camera.  It actually perched pretty much where I wanted it, though it did point out a shortcoming in my design/execution as evidenced by the oof patch of moss in the lower left.  I built it as a rectangle, and a fan shape would have reduced the likelihood of that problem.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 388 mm, tripod with ball head and Sidekick, f/8, 1/800, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 10.1 MP.  Taken on July 1st at 8:44 am.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pretty bird in a nice pose. Very nice detail, and The moss compliments the bird's colours well.
That OOF moss is a bit distracting; easily cloned out.
Sandy.

An attractive image!  Good color, sharpness and details.  Nice job on the water feature.  Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful bird, and a beautiful set up, Dennis.  I like how the light off of the water works as a reflector to put light on the subject too.  The set up is really  nice, and I am sure you will rearrange it so that the moss won't show up oof in future shots.  Very nice.  It looks very natural.
