Great blue herons are good birds for learning how to do bird in flight shots. They are not fast and I was able to snag a few shots at a local rookerie. For yuks and giggles, there's a large predaceous diving beetle that was caught in flight near the young herons on the right side. D500 600mm f4 (1/5000 sec at f8.0, Iso 800). Levels, crop for comp to 8 by 10, DeNoise.........................Jim

Really nice flight shot - great wing position, nice detail, and interesting branch - and the beetle!

Very good, Jim.  I like the wing position and the composition works very well with the greenery lower and to the side.  Detail and exposure look excellent.
