Sheep Pass Sunrise

This is a recent image from the area near Sheep Pass in JTNP. Sunrise temps have been in the 80-90 degree range out there right now. So, my outings during this extreme weather are fairly short, especially once the sun is over the horizon as seen in this image.

Thank you in advance for your C&C's and please review the LARGER version.

This has a real nice feel for early morning in the desert, peaceful and calm. I might clone out the white bits on the sand bottom almost center.  Very nice. The Wista DXIII was my first 4x5 camera! I didn't know you had that one. Also didn't know you were still shooting 4x5. It seems there are a LOT of things I don't know. :)

Paul, Wonderful light and colors in this. The larger version has really nice detail and I like the contrast this has. Cool you are still using your 4x5 camera. I shot lots of film but never had a 4x5...almost though. cool
Wish I could send you some of that cooler foggy weather we are having in the early mornings.

@ Harley, thank you very much for the review and comments too.
Yep, still using 4x5 and also 120 in my Mamiya RB67. The Velvia 50 for the RB is easy to get through B&H. However, I have to go to Japan direct for the 4x5 Velvia 50. Plenty of B&W and other color negative stuff as well as Velvia 100 & Provia 100 out there from B&H.
I've been processing E-6 through North Coast Photographic services in Carlsbad for a few years now.  Turns out I've known the owner since the 70's when he was photographing my race cars back then.......small world, eh?

@Nick, thank you for the comment here and all the best to you on your show tomorrow evening too.

Really nice early morning display, Paul. I know what you mean about having limited time to be outside.  Our mornings are much the same here in S. Utah.  The Velvia really brings the colors to life. Nicely done.

Very nice light and perspective here.
Much prefer the cooler temps of our Oregon Coast!

Paul, the sunrise glow on the tops of the shrubs and the rocks does a fine job of creating front to back interest.  The colors are nicely warm and inviting, in spite of what this means for later in the day...  This does a fine job of showing off JTNP.

The gorgeous light and details really shine when opening the large version, Paul. Itt doesn't seem like you guys can catch a break with the drought and extreme temps. I am glad you were able to get out and do some shooting even if it is for short periods of time. I really like the way you filled the frame leading us up to the rock formations.

I like the depth and the light.  Interesting place with foreground foliage glowing in this light.

Paul,

A very warm and inviting JT scene.  I really like how much of the ground/brush you included - it's like the rock formations are an accent to the scene rather than the main feature. Regardless, they all combine for a beautifully captured image.

My only other observation and I don't think it's been mentioned, so it may just be me.  But to me the color in the rock is maybe a bit saturated? or on the green/yellow side. Then again, it's first light and maybe there's some lichen on the rock?  Minor point anyway.

Lovely JT image.

A beautiful take on this rugged landscape. I love how the early morning light has spread its warmth across the scene. The glow and colors are working really well. I also think you nailed the contrast.

I have always wanted to visit JTNP and your photographs from there make me want to drop everything and hit the road right now. enlightened
