This was taken on a visit to Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge. There was over a million snow geese on the refuge along with many ducks, swans and eagles. Thanks for your comments and critiques.

The slow shutter speed really made for a great feel to this image, Richard.  It does a very good job of conveying the experience of a huge flock taking off.

Just curious if this is a recent shot?  Is the migration going on now?

Dennis, this was taken a year ago. I was going through some files cleaning them out and really liked this forgotten image and decided to post it.

Wow, I can almost hear the flapping and squawking, what an abundance of waterfowl. I would be tempted to zone in and crop a section of the image (top left) make it a square format  for some of those nice diagonal geese lines. For me, the lower third of the image is a little too mushy and disorientating.

Hi Richard,

An interesting shot. I like the mixture of blues and snows with enough motion blur to suggest that these birds were jetting by you at a good clip.  Well done.......................Jim

Fine capture of the cacophony that accompanies the flock. I really like how you panned with the slower shutter speed allowing for just enough lag to add the motion blur and the earth-colors in the overall image. I might crop the bottom part off to focus just on the geese.

I like the "mushy" part. It gives a great sense of the speed the geese were flying.
