Common Yellowthroat & RP

We had a pretty good morning fog and haze yesterday that provided some reasonably soft light, so I spent a couple of hours in the blind.  I was happy to se this Common Yellowthroat come in to bathe and it gave me some nice poses.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 516 mm,tripod with ball head and Sidekick, f//8, 1/500, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to an 11.3 MP 4x5.  A bit of cloning on the background-the bright area over the head was there to start with, though I might remove it in the future.  Taken at 8:19 am under fairly bright hazy skies.

Your comments and critiques are more than welcome.

Thanks,

Here's a repost with the light spot removed.

Sweet shot of this female warbler, Dennis. Very nice light and the wet pebble looks like a pickle from this angle. I wasn't sure about the original highlight, but the repost is much better.

The wildfires have been causing lot of haze and smoke here too. It's supposed to get better this week, so let's see.

Nice take on this yellowthroat Dennis.  The vegetation distracts me from the bird a bit, but still very nice.  Good job on removing that bright spot.  A question:  When using this rig with the Sidekick, do you have the VR turned on or off?

The repost fixes any nits I might have had. I see you have smokey skies in Washington, too.

Jim:  I leave the VR turned on because I never lock down the mount except to carry it.  I'm always recomposing as the birds shift poses so it doesn't make sense to tighten it down.  I do the same thing when I use a full gimbal head.  Thus far, I've not seen a problem.
