I really need to start posting more. But I am just as far behind with processing. This is a fairly basic pose, but I really like the red background color. I am not sure what this plant is called since I am still  pretty new to the area, but it has a beautiful red color in summer and the red reflection on top of the water really made this one unique in my opinion. Please click on the large version.

Hello, Kurt - I can only echo the words you already wrote yourself. The reddish BG makes the images, wonderful rusty red colors, giving a quite unique framing for this attractive species. Love it! Cheers, Hans

Very pretty and unique image with that background.  Works really well with the stilt.

This really needs to be seen large.  Excellent detail.  The Stilt really pops against the red background.  Good job on achieving a superb level of saturation in your postprocessing.

Those colors of the background are certainly different, Kurt, and they make the whites of the bird stand out in the frame. I know from experience that getting good exposure on Stilts isn't easy. Although the color is really nice, to me the blacks tend to get lost in the darker surroundings. If I were nearby in such a place, I'd be tempted to either try this in brighter conditions, or maybe in post you could bring up the light values in the BG while keeping the exposure of the bird as is, just a suggestion. Overall this is really nice with fine detail.

The reddish water make the whites of the stilt stand out well, Kurt. Good techs - the larger version shows the blacks on stilt well even with the dark background. I would have liked some more room on the bottom for the leg in the water.

Beautiful image, Kurt.  While I like the deep red of the background, you might want to try brightening it a touch to increase the contrast with the blacks in the bird.

Very nice, Kurt!  Very good exposure, excellent detail and I love that the background is color coordinated with the Stilt's legs.  You kind of lose the beak and other black parts in the small version but they stand out quite clearly and are well defined in the large version. I can't think of anything I would do differently.  Well done!

HI Kurt
The large post really makes the difference.  The Stilt just pops out of the back-ground, nice work.
