Returning to nature part 2

I returned to the old barn that many of you helpfully commented on to recature with better GND technique and indeed had some success. Rather than repost the same image only a little better, perhaps this perspective might also be interesting? My 3 stop GND filter arrived from B+H yesterday, so more to play with.

Pentax 645
Velvia of some sort
two stacked 2 stop gND filters (I think)

Really a nice shot. It's got a great interplay of colors from bottom to top. :toast:

Roger: The light grazing the hill above the house makes this for me. Good use of the GND as well. A comp with just the upper left quarter of the image would look good too. ><>

I love the sense of the place that this photo gives Roger. Really nice, I can almost imagine settling this area and situating the cabin just right, all those years ago. I REALLY like this shot.

This is excellent, Roger. Well done. One of the things I do a lot is return to a place to reshoot and try new things. It generally pays off and in this case I think it did for you too. I like the placement of the barn between the shrubery. Including the foreground is a nice touch. The light angling off the trees in the background adds a warmth to the overall scene. Adn that GND worked quite nicely. Do you recall about where you had the line placed?

Cheers,

This is excellent. I think it's the best you've posted so far. The photo has great depth from all the elements working together pulling me into the scene. The ND grad really did the trick on the sky too. The flowers are an excellent touch. Your instincts were very good on this one.

Thanks for the comments. No David, I don't remember the placement of the ND grads. I was doing a lot of exerimenting this trip, and it was the first time I doubled up on filters. I have an old 2 stop hard Hitech that is in semi retirement as it gives a magenta cast in certain light. I was trying to place this on the most obvious sun line. Then I used my 2 stop soft Singh-ray in different placements. Dan Baumbach gave me a few tips on stacking filters that at least got me started.

Beautiful, Roger. I like this one better than the last, aesthetically and technically. I like the bigger space in this composition (plus, the light is wonderful on the trees above the barn), and your work with the GNDs yielded a good tonal balance throughout the image. Very nice!!

Hello Roger,
I don't visit the M&N forum as often as I should. This is a beautiful image.
