Sunrise at C/L hut

Canon EOS 350D, Canon EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM, 1/25 f14, iso 100, RAW, Manfrotto tripod.

Another photo taken in my trip in the Alps. This is the Combi - Lanza hut, placed at an altitude of 2400 meters. I slept there and I toke the photo at sunrise.

I blended two exposures, one for the foreground and one for the sky.

Thanks for every comment

Sweet sunburst Juza. Excellent job on the blending of the two exposures. Did you have to reserve this hut or just show up and hope it wasn't occupied?

Hi Josh,
there is no need of reservation for the huts like this one...actually, there are very few persons that sleep there.

Juza, this is just wonderful! The starburst is amazing, and the light on the rocks is perfect. Great job on combining the exposures. Tell us more about the hut...it is there for people like you hiking the area? Who does it belong to? I find your adventures very interesting! :toast:

The detail in this is incredible. You captured the sunrise feel perfectly. I guess that I'll be the odd one, though, and say that I don't really like the star sun, it doesn't look natural to me, but maybe that's how it looked, or was that a filter? Otherwise, absolutely lovely.

Hi Alice,
the hut belongs to "CAI", i.e. the Alpine Club of Italy.

The main purposes of these hut are:
1) emergency refuge
2) a place to rest for hikers
3) a base for climb and long excursions

Usually they are simple structures, without water and electricity; they can accommodate from 4 to 10 persons and they are always open. Another plus of these huts is that they are free :-)

You can see a inside view of the C/L hut here:

After spending a night here, I reached the border between Italy and Switzerland and then I followed the narrow path to Binn, Fiesh and finally, after a 12 hours walk, I reached Brig. My only complaint is that when I reached Brig I was too tired to visit the city (but I'm going to come back!), otherwise it has been a fantastic trip:biggrin:

I don't use filters, but the star effect was created by the lens (Canon 17-85).

That is a remarkable view from your hut! Will you be posting other similar images? Do you usually go backpacking/hiking alone?

I really love the mood in this image, Juza. I don't mind the starry sun at all - I even prefer it that way. Plus, you did a great job on the composition of the exposures.

I'm not religious but a lot of things in this picture give me a church-like feeling --the sun rays, the narrow wood building and even the signpost. Very peaceful. Lovely Juza!

Beautiful shot Juza, great light. I'm not so fond of the star shaped sun, but even still I like it a lot. Well done.

I have just begun to convert the RAW files, but probably later I'll post other photos from this trip :-)

Do you usually go backpacking/hiking alone?

Yes, the 99% of times I'm alone...the majority of my friends don't like too much adventurous side of these trips ;-)

Juza,
I'm just amazed by your travel agenda! I'm definitely jealous of how much you get around...I have one question...does this hut have cable tv?
Seriously though...I'm not used to seeing this effect on the sun...but it does add to the mood of the scene...Nice shot! Can't wait to see more!
