Wavebreaker

A wavebreaker on the beach near the most westerly point of Schouwen Duiveland in the Netherlands. In the summer this beach is awefully crowded, but outside the warm summerdays the beach is very quiet and it's marvelous to walk there alone with your thoughts (and camera at times).

A time exposure of roughly one second at sunset. The sun was setting quite a bit more to the left, giving rather soft colours on both water and the poles.

Cheers!

This is wonderful, Arthur. The soft sunset colors on the pylons and waves are wonderful. I like the angle you shot this at and I like the separation between the FG and BG pylons. Very nciely done IMO

I always enjoy scenes from the Netherlands, Arthur. I like the open doorway to the sea you created here. And the peaceful mood is very nice. A good place to enjoy some solitude - when the crowds are gone.

Interesting. I like the effect here. I think you chose a good shutter speed too. I like the slight blurring of the water, but that you can still see the shape of the wave.

Oh, my, this is excellent. I'll take a large print. I could look at this all evening. Well done.

This is an example of what would normally be a "nothing" shot, but with fantastic light it becomes a fantastic photo. Great job putting it together! :toast:

Thanks a lot for all your comments! They are much appreciated!

A 'nothing shot' Kent... that is roughly what it felt like when I was taking it. I was almost certain that the final image would end up in the bin with that strange composition. Funny how images like that can turn out very nicely eventually. This one has even been on show in an exhibition in the National Museum of Natural History in the Netherlands. That goes to show that sometimes just acting silly with the camera can be worth while :).

Cheers!

Arthur,
If this is just acting silly with the camera, you should do so more often! I love this! That light is fantastic and the pylons seem to go on forever into the sunset sky and that water is perfect!

Arthur: Really well seen and captured. The light is wonderful and the effect of the long exposure on the water is perfect. Bravo! >=))>
