American Avocet

Sorry for not participating here lately. I've been pretty busy and haven't been doing much birding and photography this fall, but here's one from last week. This was taken at the Deer Creek Reservoir SW of Columbus. Avocets might be a dime a dozen out west, and even along Lake Erie. They're considered "casual to accidental" inland in Ohio, so when I came across 2 avocets here I plunged right into the mud. I got some tighter shots of these unwary birds, but I kind of like this one.

Very nice Robert. As always tack sharp with a superb composition.

PS. I noticed a couple of your images in the Dispatch over the weekend!

I am having some problems with my prime PC and monitor and this looked 'dark'. However, now that I am viewing it at another place, this is very nice and, since I have only seen them in breeding plumage, many thanks for showing. :wavey:

Fantastic shot Bob! Such a beautiful bird I would like to see a tighter shot without the reflection. Great shot! :toast:

The plunge in the mud was well worth it, Bob.

I love it exactly as is! We have these beauties all year, and it's one of the best things about where I live.
