Like shooting fish in a barrel...

Canon EOS 5D w/100-300USM lens

(I should add that this big guy had just finished thoroughly thrashing that evergreen bush behind him, so he felt he needed to beat his chest and respond to the other bull behind me.)

Todd - very nice photo and I am a bit jealous in that everytime I'm in Rocky the Elk are in the shadows and the images are way too cool . . . Looks like the 5D is working well for you.

Brilliant! The color's are so beautifully saturated and I like the composition. The green fir positioning in the background really helps make this a special shot.

Great job!

Todd, this is SWEET! The low perspective combined with drop dead background colors with just the right DOF make this outstanding.

Wow Todd! Very nice. He must like you. The elk always hide in the trees when I'm there.

Very stunning! (And not bad for a landscape guy, besides)
I think I might be worried in a situation like this if I might be the next thing to get a thrashing. The backdrop glow of the aspen is not like any elk/deer shots I can recall seeing. Pretty cool, indeed.

Todd, excellent shot. Nice story about the evergreen bush as well...without the story I would have replied that it would have been an even better photograph without that evergreen bush. That golden yellow and the pose of the animal really make this shot! Wow...you were close, using the 5D with 100-300!!! :toast:

It's like you're combining landscape AND wildlife photography... is that legal!?
