Touchin' God

I shot this 2 summers ago on a backpacking trip to the greatest place in the world. This image was taken from perhaps 5' from my tent door.

I wasn't going to post an image today as I've not been commenting much on images lately, but received an email from another NPNer today which included the comment :

'Post something for me to critique!'

well, Mr Emailer, critique away.

Cheers

Carl

Dude, you should be careful about touching God. You know about celestial harrassment, right?

That is quite an impressive scene. I bet no amount of images of words would compare to actually being there, but you've done an admirable job in capturing the moment's grandeur.

Carl, this is too sweet. Those crepuscular rays cutting a long demarcation line through the landscape is outta this world! The silvery braided channels aren't too bad either

Lucky you to have been there and to have photographed this. Robert Ketchum, look out for CD!

Why would anyone be so pushy about you posting images? Sheesh....

Don't you hate guys who blow you away with a photograph they took just outside their door? Of course, even I give extra credit to people who carry their doors on their backs. It's a beauty Carl. That river adds a lot to this. Yeah, post more often.

Beautiful photograph.

I have to ask. Everyone else seems to know where this was taken, but I don't see any location info given. I'm going to guess Gates of the Arctic. I'm curious to hear the answer.

Carl, I love the sun rays and the silvery water. I also like this with the right side cropped to vertical. I love that distant peak on the right and like how the water leads from it.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for the nice words. The image was taken from Chittistone Pass, overlooking Skolai Pass in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska. Large rivers, glacial crevasses and impassable mountains make the area pretty much only accessibly by bush plane during the summer months. We flew in from McCarthy, and landed on the tiny landing strip which is just to the left of and beyond the left most body of water visible here. For more information on the place, take a look at my website, under the Skolai Pass Trip.

Cheers

Carl

Oh, the places you've been. Every time I see your work, that itch to get to Alaska gets bigger and bigger. Beautiful shot...again. I really enjoy your work.
