Balanced Diet

On the edge of an estuary (in Singapore) fledgeling Little Terns fly on newly unwrapped wings to a place near the breeding grounds to wait for their parents to feed them. The adults hover and dive into the water to grab small fish to hover over their offspring like emergency helicopters before delivering the goods into willing 'mouths'.

This was shot in the evening when dull grey clouds hung over the water (hence the color of the background). Luckily the descending sun broke fully though the clouds and provided a strong yellow light for high speed shooting.

Canon EOS1D2, Canon 500, iso 400, 1/1250, f6.3....focussing was on the juvenile and when the adult hovered into view it was as Bob Steele says 'spray and pray'(machine-gun mode).

Kind regards
Graeme

Graeme,

Isn't it nice to "blaze away" without using any film? Man, this is really neat!!! :toast:
