Letchworth Waterfall in Winter

by Kirk Bingaman

Last Sunday was the first clear day in nearly a month. I took the opportunity to visit Letchworth State Park. This is a view of the upper falls. The light was harsh most of the day but as the sun sank a nice glow developed off the mist. It lasted about fifteen minutes and then the falls were in shadow. I was also shooting with Velvia 100F, but it may be a while until I finish that roll.

Canon Powershot A80, ISO 50, Evaluative Light Metering, 1/320 @ f/8, SRGB.

Kirk, the shaft of light in the BG puts this image over the top IMO. It invites you through the image. Nicely seen  Like it!

I agree with the others. Very nice work. People may be distracted by the hot highlight but I think it helps the image.

Nice work.

Great shapes in theice and plenty of textures in this image. The light certainly helped you out on this one. The tonal range is quite well handled, the hotspot seems to work OK with this image. Intersting to see if the Velvia copes with the contrast range as well as this image.
