Unfortunately these trees are the only remnants of what was once beautiful woodland.

Eos 5D, 17-40mm, 1/15 sec, f/22. 2 stop and 2.5 stop ND grads

Well done. This really has a stark feeling to it. The trees seem to be leaning on each other for consolation. :frown:

This does a superb job of portraying the devastation. Sad and beautiful.

You've captured a very haunting image here. I like that it speaks on the issue of deforestation while remaining aesthetically very strong.

Great graphic quality to this Tristan. The darkly shadowed FG really captures my attention. Very well don.

Wow! This is awesome! In addition to telling a powerful story it has a simple depth and graphic quality that I strive for in my photos but rarely achieve. Hats off.

Tristan,

Along with your description and that stump in the foreground, this would be great in the environmental folder. As is, this is not only a great image of mood, but an image with a story. This is very striking and a strong image.

Like others commented, when an image leave the viewer with a strong emotional response as this does you have accomplished something special.

You made a beautiful photo from a rather depressing and meager setting - great work!
