Pastel Morning

Hi everyone!
It has been a while since my last post...
This is once again from a finnish national park.
I cropped it, I like this composition better - more emphasis on the birch and its reflection.
I remember this morning quite well - total silence, no wind and the slightest noise dampened by the fog.

What do you think of the composition? There is some empty space on the lower left side - does this bother you?
Thanks for comments and feedback!
Dietrich

Please see below the hut I spend two nights in. This is the lake "Toraslampi" .I posted quite a few shots from that location. This spot was sooo beautiful!

5D, 70-200@200mm, f/16, tripod, cable release.

Dietrich,
Amazing colors you caught here and a nice variety of textures also. I may be in the minority but I like some empty space when shooting water because I enjoy the surface so much. I think this is gorgeous!

Beautifully composed Dietrich, this is the type of scene I could sit here and stare into, and really enjoy it's peaceful mood. Everything about it is simply beautiful.

Awesome image in every way. A very somber quiet feeling is how this image makes me feel.

I am not missing anything with the comp. To me it is very well balanced.

The texture through the fog is excellent. The hint of the reflection in the water along with the subtle colors really bring me into the shot. Excellent.

Wow ... this place could look so boring when shot and processed in the wrong way. You managed to make a wonderful image from it. Color adjustments are lovely and support the soft look. What makes the image really stand out is the crispness and detail.

This is an increadible fine image!! Nothing empty here IMO. The square format is just perfect and there are plenty of detail and delicate colors in the trees. I wonder a bit about why the upper half is i bit darker than the lower part.
I love the quiet feeling here :toast:

Very, very nice Dietrich. Subdued, soft, serene..... Looks like an amazing place to be shacked up in that's for sure. I like your words above as you describe the experience of being in the place--"the slightest noise dampened by the fog." I know that kind of atmosphere and it definitely comes through in this image. The white trunks are marvelous, anchoring accents in the overall scene.

Love the hues and mood here. I accept the centerline composition because of the reflections. The bottom left of the image though is a little empty. Well done.

I agree -- Sooooooooo Beautiful, but also easy to overlook or to handle in a boring way. Your appreciation of the sublte beauty there is evident in this presentation. It would make anyone appreciate nature more, and that's a wonderful accomplishment.

The space at the bottom is not empty to me -- it is full of water! Seriously, that space to me provided a nice sense of the environment here. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Gosh I love the atmosphere conjured in this. The blue colouration is a touch strong for me but I am prepared to believe that this was the colour present particularly if shot in the twilight of early morning. The most endearing thing about the picture is the quiet serenity that has been captured. Super stuff.

Thanks Ian! The blueish color is enhanced by the colorbalance-slider. I admit I do not exactly remember the actual colors present that morning, but they surely were not "warm". The picture of the hut was taken the same morning, but later, with less twilight-conditions, but I also processed this separately with less emphasis on a cold mood.

Dietrich - Wonderful composition here, I certainly am not bothered by the LLC. In fact, I think it adds to the idyllic sense of this image; it's very quiet and understated. I would certainly not touch the water - you need the breathing room to feel relaxed, peaceful and quiet. The muted blues of course contribute to this overall aura. Luckily, the oranges, a hot color, are muted enough to add "seasoning" to the image, not intrude upon it. The white, wavy trunk on the Birch, again, adds to the restfulness.
Nice work!

Beautiful! I love the soft colors and the way the fog and water softens up the transitions of the elements and their respective color combinations. The reflections are very nice and I really enjoy the bit of white bark that makes the one tree dominate. Very nicely composed and seen. I really enjoy this one.
