Two small islands floating in the thick fog, as they appeared on Tuesday early morning. This is the Po River near to Carignano, Piedmont, Italy, approximately the same location of my previous post, just a hour or so before.
Your C&C are higly appreciated, thanks for your time,
Paolo

Details: Eos 400D, Canon EF-S 18-55, polarizer, GND 2x, tripod.

That is insane! probably my favorite so far of your fog shots, the simplicity is incredible. Here's my one nit: since symmetry is obviously one of the biggest strengths of this shot, i would go totally symmetric and crop from the bottom so top and bottom sections are equal, above and below the sun. If you really want to be different, than crop even more from the bottom. In my opinion, it is much better to have space at the top of this shot rather than the bottom--don't ask why, that's just the way i see it

Great mood in this shot. The symmetry is interesting but I actually like this more if it's cropped up from the bottom to eliminate the reflection.

Beautiful Paolo!! I love the simplicity. Great composition. I think the sunlight is just bright enough but not too bright. Love the subtle colors. Really nice.

Stan's crop suggestion

Hi everyone, thanks for commenting on this. I sincerely didn't know what kind of reaction this picture was going to produce, as I find it myself really strange, dark, gothic and somewhat alarming...

Doesn't look like the swamp where Luke meets Master Yoda in Star Wars II? I expect to see the X-wing fighter rising up from the waters... Is the Force with me?

I'm attaching the crop as suggested by Stan. I will add the Mark's cropping suggestion as well in the following post.

Thanks for posting my crop suggestion. I do like that one. I think the simplified composition enhances the mood of the image. Just my opinion.

Very "dreamy" and slightly ghostly image. This might as well be an image of the moon at night...
lovely!

Paolo,

Gothic, that's it! I was trying to think of a description and my reaction and you nailed it in your comment. Simple, effective and stunning imagery!

Ciao Paolo!

This is pretty cool. My insane crop suggestion is to crop out the real moon and have the two tiny islands apparently illuminated by the crazy, wavy water moon.

I don't know what it is with this image, it's cool any way you crop it. Two moons, top moon, bottom moon, or even no moons this image is eerily interesting. Job well done.

Lovely diffuse lighting. Each version creates an atmosphere that is at once broody, mysterious, haunting, beautiful.

What a magic image this is!! Very impressive!! As for crop sugestions, I prefer the second one, without the moon reflection.
Congrats

Hi Paolo!! After reading all and looking at the crop suggestions, I finally decided I like the original post as is. I like how it fades to black beyond the light (sun). Congrats on the EP!!

The cropped versions don't have 1/100th the impact of the original. The dark outline around the cloud reflections at the bottom give the composition balance. Congrats on the EP.
