I just came back from a trip up to the Rockies and meet up with some fellow NPN'ers and had a great time. I liked how the triangle of the dock matched up with the mountain peak. They all posted some amazing images from here and I thought I would offer a different take on this iconic spot.

Thanks for commenting !

I love the pastel colors in the sky, the image is so blue it makes me cold!

Hi Kevin,

When we drove in, I saw someone on the dock hard at work getting the shot, but I didn't know it was you until we met afterward. I'm enjoying this creative take on Mt. Rundle and Vermillion Lakes. Fantastic colours and good work getting the reflected peak! Welcome to the real Canada's wonderland! (no offense to a certain major fun park north of Toronto - that place is great, too )

The corner of the dock makes for a great foreground element and like you said the triangle shape matches the shape of the mountain nicely. The pastel colours are nice as well.

I really like the weathered look of the wood in contrast to all that smooth ice and sky. Well seen! Rundle looks crisp and stately. If it were mine, I'd clone out the jet trails but understand the debate over things like that.

This is a beauty Kevin. I love the texture of the wood juxtaposed with the smoothness of the ice, and the rest of image is fantastic as well.

Kevin, I thought you said you got nothing from that sunset! If this is nothing I would hate to see what you got when you think you got something? I love the square crop, the repeating triangles and the movement of the clouds in the sky - super creative making 'something' from nothing! Darwin

Kevin,
I like the idea here with the dock, but to my taste, it is too dominant.

the detail in the dock is nice. I would have like to have it be a more prominent, but that's a minor nit. I love the color in this, its quite beautiful. It should make a nice print.

I love it. That's using your noodle! You're thinking way outside the box and that's refreshing for us locals who are often blinded by previous experience. We look forward to your return to our little part of the world.

Innovative comp work, Kevin. I've stood at this spot a few times and wondered what to do with the foreground. It looks so much better in Winter without all the floating pond scum. Anyway, a fine image. I like it!

I like how it took a second or two to realize that the water was frozen! Nice job. :toast:

Congrats on the EP Kevin. The use of triangles makes for a strong composition. The thing I find most striking though is that lovely milky blue in the foreground.
