Gotcha!

The Namib desert,Namibia, has some of the highest sand dunes in the world. One morning I spotted this chameleon and watched it for a while. When it walked towards a bush and stopped, I saw the bug. I lay flat on the sand with a 90mm macro, chose a fast shutterspeed and composed the shot.

I little over four weeks time I will return to Namibia again and hope to spend some more time with these fascinating creatures.

As always, your comments are appreciated.

Brilliant capture and SUPERB timing !! Phew, how I wish this was mine, its fantastic. From the lighting to the low angle and perspective, its bang on the money.

Not only is the timing outstanding, it couldn't have been better. Nothing like being prepared for such situations. Great macro work!

Hi Marsel,
Congratulations on capturing such a marvelous image. Really adds to the impact that you got down on the Chameleon's level. Great shot and I'm sure one that you are proud to be the owner off. :toast:

Incredible! I had a pet veiled chameleon for several years. I would feed her by hand, just pressing a meal worm to her lips, then she would get it from my fingers with her tongue. She was slow at it, and I could not imagine getting a shot of her tongue in action. Awesome shot Marsel.

No way! But I see it with my own eyes this impossible photograph... What a wonder. Deadly, but amazing. Congratulations on a masterpiece and the well deserved EP it demanded!

Wow, nice timing. I think the light, although bright, works for this, because it's in the desert, after all. Fantastic capture.

You have some of the most amazing wildlife shots I've ever seen Marsel, bar none. This one is no exception!

The way you captured the action of that chameleon snagging that darkling beetle couldn't have been more perfect! :toast:
