This dragonfly had just emerged from the naiad casing and was drying out its wings. I have this focused at the closest focusing point on my lens. I love the detail in the wings, some parts have an almost iridsescent quality and the compound eyes. Thanks for your comments/suggestions. Larry

Technicals: Nikon D2X Nikon 200mm Micro 1/1.3 seconds at f/22

Larry, this is stunning, the details are incredibly sharp.

Could you please post the techs on this for those of us who might one day like to take an image like this?

lov this close up, and the colors are great.

I think the top BG is little distracting I know it would be hard but have you thought of cloning it out with some green like the bottom.

Cezary, I thought of it, but I live with it. It probably would make this a stronger image because it would take away the distraction. Thanks for the suggestion. Larry

That is almost painfully sharp to look at. Very nicely captured!

By any chance, did you get any shots just of the wing, did you? The color and reflections might provide an interesting abstract.

The wings look almost like the pattern of stained glass. Love the light and colors. :toast: Ron

Dan, No I didn't. This image is at about the closest focusing capability of the lens and I had no way with me in the field to get closer. I agree that the wings certainly would have made for some great abstract images! Thanks for the inquiry. Larry

Thanks for all the great comments!! This was a special moment and I couldn't believe how cooperative this dragonfly was at the time. Thanks for the honor of having my image chosen to represent the Macro and Close-up gallery this week!! Larry
