Barn and Model 'T' (Infrared)

This was taken this afternoon and the Old Bethpage Village Restoration on LI NY. I had just made one image of this scene, and was thinking it really needs something else in the photo when this model T took a cruise around the grounds. What luck. Nikon D100, 18-70 @ 31mm, f8, 1/160, ISO 200. A bit of Orton effect applied as well as a little gaussian blur. BTW the colors are as they came out of the camera. Thanks for your comments.

That Model T was supposed to be there! I can't imagine this image without it. Great job Steve.

excellent, that T-model seems to be a natural element without whom the picture wasn't complete.

Steve,

I'm so glad I popped in to M&N this evening. I don't know if anyone could dream of such a picturesque scene; this is an incredible image. I continue to enjoy your IR imagery. Beautiful work.

That's a wonderful image Steve and probably would be even if it wasn't an infra-red version. I confess I have not really been motivated to try it out up to now but this picture suits the subject perfectly and conveys the nostalgia stunningly well.

This completely floored me, Steve. This picture is breathtaking. It really wraps up that far away feel you get, with scenes from another era....This image just oozes of *NOSTALGIA*.

I agree that the car was an integral part of the photo. It lets you know what era you are in and adds an interesting focal point. If you had just shot the barn alone-you never would have gotten the same feel out of this photo. Fantastic Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow!!!

What do you mean by "BTW the colors are as they came out of the camera"?

Mark,
A very dark red filter is required to shoot in infrared. This filter generally renders a red image as you might expect. I do a custom white balance on green foliage with the filter in place which results in the colors you see in this image.
