This photo was taken at the Butterfly exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. I arrived at the butterfly garden when it opened in the morning and stayed there longer than the first shift, which amazed the worker. The photo was taken, on a tripod, with a Canon 20D and a Canon 100mm macro lens. AV mode 1/125 sec f3.5 -1 exposure compensation (ISO 800, I usually shoot at 200). I stood watching as the butterflies emerged and captured this one as it was hanging from its chrysallis waiting, pumping fluid from its body into its wings and drying out. I love the gold question mark on its wing!
