Tom and Lisa, of Hamden CT, know that their shared passion of photography was responsible for bringing them together. They met in the New Haven Camera Club, where they are both actively involved. Tom, a member since 1996, is the current president, and Lisa, a member since 2000, is the Webmaster and the current newsletter editor. Lisa is also on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association of Photographers. Tom and Lisa have presented programs at NHCC, NECCC, Greater Lyn, PSA, the New Haven Bird Club, amongst others. They also judge photographic competitions and held various photo and photoshop workshops.
They use Canon digital cameras & lenses, carbon fiber tripods & Epson 2200 & 3800 printers. The lure of capturing a moment and freezing it in time remains the same regardless of what medium the artist uses. However, their switch to digital photography in 2001 has allowed them to further explore the photographic experience. Their creative energies have increased exponentially now that they are no longer limited to “36 frames”. They greatly enjoy their “digital darkroom” and the control that it allows them over their images.
Both Lisa & Tom are passionate about their photography. They feel that their photography has grown as a result of their relationship, where they nurture, motivate and inspire each other. They love any chance to take pictures. They appreciate the world around them and embrace the challenge of interpreting what their eyes and heart see via the camera lens. It is this love that motivates and challenges them to pursue a wide range of nature and animal photos. The challenge of capturing unique animal behavior has taken them to many exciting locations, such as Africa, Alaska, California, Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Utah, Maine, the Adirondacks, among other places. They also love to photograph in their backyard. Tom & Lisa have had several successful gallery exhibitions of their work, had photographs in Adirondack Life, Birder's World & Wild Bird, the WCC wolf calendar and on the cover of paperback novel. They have fun with their photography and it shows in their photographs. Their nature photography gives them a chance to slow down and notice all of the miracles of life around them.
