This Great Horned Owl took over an osprey nest on a platform on a March in CT. I took this photo, on a tripod, with a Canon 20D with a Canon 500mm f4 IS lens and two 1.5X kenko teleconverters. AV mode 1/1000 sec, f4.5, -1/3 exposure compensation. The mother mainly had her eyes closed, but she got very agitated when crows would fly near the nest. Crows flew by and she woke up, fluffed up her feathers, and spread her wings. Wow!
