Green anole.
Anolis carolinensis.
October 30th, 2006.
Residential; Sanford, Florida.
Nikon D70s.
~~~~~
One of the many green anoles who live just outside our front door in downtown Sanford. Green anoles have always been among my very favorite of Floridian animals. I don't see them nearly as often as when I was a kid, however. With the rise of the brown anole (Anolis sagrei), the green anoles' numbers seem to have gone down. At the very least, the greens have moved to typically higher ground, while the browns dominate the surface.
