I found this young, perky Florida cottonmouth trekking along the edge of a small creek north of Tiger Bay, near State Road 40. This area is a bit west of Ormond Beach, west of the Atlantic coast.
Upon sighting me, the cottonmouth quickly retreated under a log and took a defensive position. Crouching down (but not too close), the snake's position actually proved quite productive for my camera. It was a nice angle to shoot from. A cool perspective.
