Ah, my first bighorn sheep. Literally.

On our way from central Florida to Anchorage, Alaska (our new home), we hit many, many parks. If you're driving from Florida to Alaska, you've got to take your time, right? And do it right...

Glacier National Park exceeded my expectations. If I wasn't sure about the grandeur of the park at first, that was secured when I came across this particular ram. He was quite cooperative. A bit defensive, of course. But not skiddish. Apparently this isn't really rare at Glacier.

I was worried about light with the 300mm, so I braced myself on a rock and went rock-pod. I was afraid that getting the tripod out of the Jeep would ruin my chances. As it was, once I was able to slide over and brace on the rock with the green in the background, everything fell into place.

I must say, this was a nice introduction to a whole new world of fauna for me. Soon it would be dall sheep of Alaska, but the bighorns of Glacier National Park certainly got the ball rolling.
