I am considering starting a website with photobiz.com
Here is the deal $125 for flash template
$125 for online proofing and ordering system and then $25 per month for 600 photos.
They claim to be client oriented and make downloading and set up very easy with a phone contact to help.
Any experience with this company? Does it sound like a reasonable deal for someome who wants a nice looking functional site without a lot of web knowhow?
Feedback appreciated
Thanks

No experience with the company, sorry. Are the $125 payments for the flash and the online proofing/ordering one-time or annual payments?

These are both one time payments Steve.

Seems like a lot of coin. Have you looked at some of the other online offerings that handle order fulfillment as well. Doesn't Smugmug do something similar?

Rick, I've never used their service so I can't comment on it. But I agree with Robert just superficially reading up on their services: sounds like a lot of coin - at least for the shopping cart montly fee part of the deal. But that being said, most shopping cart things like this can get pretty expensive. There are ways - that are much cheaper - to be able to integrate things with Paypal and/or google checkout. Just a thought...

Our shopping cart is run through PayPal, and costs us very little per transaction with no setup fee. When mounting online proof galleries for wedding/portrait clients, we don't even do it on our site, but use free software to mount it at no cost on White House Custom Color's Web site (our print lab). The galleries are password protected, and the client can simply choose which prints they want at whatever price I've set (wholesale plus markup), order right there with credit/debit card and the prints are shipped to them. WHCC deducts its wholesale price from the transaction and sends me the balance.
