Have a look at Canon's European site . The have a Flash Movie of a floating camera body that only shows the top 10 or 15% of the camera, with a statement that "the EOS story continues". I guess we are to assume it's the new 5D.

Some of the funniest stuff I've read in the last 3 months has been the speculation of what this new 5D-ish camera will be. I mean, heated arguments over megapixels and FPS and weather sealing and all the rest of it sometimes get raging. SO, I just had to chuckle when Canon throws a floating camera on their site, mostly covered up, almost to say "neener, we know what it is and you don't".

All in fun. Great pictures are totally possible with the gear we all now currently have, right? My dust-collecting unsealed puny 12mp 5D works great for me!

Yeah, but this has probably been one of the most anticipated cameras in recent years. One of the most prolific topics on the few photography boards I participate in is this almost mythical 5D Mk II - or whatever it'll be called. Canon likely know this so why wouldn't they play into that? It makes perfect sense from their standpoint. Drives up the talk more, gets more people interested. Canon still sells all they can make of the current 5D so if they can drum up enough anticipation and get people interested enough that the new model sells like the original, Canon will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Photokina is now just a couple of weeks away. While a number of manufacturers have released new product recently, or hinted at things to come, it will be interesting to see if there will be any major revelations at this years event.

Yeah, really, who cares? Uh-huh, I know many people care. But how much should they care? The 6D will be to the 5D what the 1DsMk3 was to the 1DsMk2, and it will just keep on keepin on. Canon is just working to whip up the faithful and convert the faithless, which is any company's job.

Focus on the latest body or focus on your singular vision as an artist. The 6D won't make you a better artist than you were with the 5D, so where should your attention really be?

I think the top 10% is all they have done. They're still working on the rest of it.

Well, in agreement with Charlie, after Sony's dropped their 24 MP bomb yesterday, maybe Canon have to re-vamp the sensor or the design again. Again? - there were rumors about Canon having felt the need to respond to the D700 earlier this year, delaying the release of the 5D MkII. And the pentaprism housing is what will remain unchanged...
