I really want to photograph these areas but I've never been to any of them. If anyone has some input of workshops/guides to any of these areas I would like to hear of them.
I'll most likely be using my 4x5 camera so it would be nice to travel with someone familiar with this format of photography. I've come across a few people who offer day rates for the area but they seem a bit high priced.
Maybe there are others who would like to do this and we could arrange a group rate, I'm looking at early December as a target date but this is flexible based on conditions.

Bret Edge lives in the area, http://www.bretedge.com/. He's got full day and half day rates. Don't know what kind of prices you're seeing but check his out for comparison. They're on his Workshops & More page.

One place to start would be by purchasing Laurent Martres' book titled 'Photographing the Southwest-Southern Utah'.
There is no better book to help familiarize you with these areas.
Check the user reviews there for more details.
Check out Bob Miller's post dated 10/30/08 re TPN's meet up in Zion.

As a guide in Moab I'd recommend contacting Jon Fuller. I spent a day with him in September and had a great experience. His website is http://www.moabphototours.com/ I second John's post about Laurent Martres' book, it's an excellent resource.

Although we are not familiar with the large format photography, Varina and I are going Southwest Utah in first week of Nov.
Our agenda depends upon the weather, but we would definitely want to take a long hike to Subway (weather permitting). If you want to come with us we will charge you our group rate. Please send us an email if you are interested.
Thanks.

If you are going there for the first time, I recommend you pick up the book mentioned and research with hundreds of resources from internet. You will find plenty of locations without anyone's direct help - these areas are just spectacular and images can be found everywhere. Of course, getting some company of a pro is very special - you may get to see some unique or secret spots.
Also, I found that this forum is great to get advice when you ask more specific question - for example, if you ask "where and how can I get more intimate and inside-the-canyon type shots in Bryce" - you will get more specific suggestions and tips.
