Turkey vulture

I had come across this vulture while driving on a rural road (he had been feeding on a deer carcass in the ditch). I tend to think that he was just waiting for me to clear out so that he could get back to it. Slightly cropped.

Tech details:

D300 with 300mm F4 and 1.4x teleconverter
1/500th at F5.6
ISO 500 eq.

Yes, indeed... I think he has that "go away..." look about him.

I like everything about this one David, especially the saturation level of the colors. The fence is hand of man, but it's weathered a lot and its colors work with the overall scheme. Top notch TV. :toast: Oh, and a hearty welcome! :wavey:

Great shot David - love the detail in the plumage, face and fence post. I agree with Avi - you got much meat on your bones?

cheers

Welcome, David!
This is a really nice shot - good feather detail, great eye, and nice perch. the wires add some interest, but some may not feel this is good. It's fine with me.

David,

I like the fence & post, they are old & weathered enough to have character on their own.

Glad to see this turkey vulture posted, they make a great roadside clean up crew by removing roadkills.

Lovely details, exposure and light.

Welcome to NPN Avian!

Nice sharp image, David. You really brought out the details in the plumage. A tough more room above and in front of the bird might be nice.

Welcome David, nice detail in the dark plumage, the character of this species is shown quite well here I think. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. :toast:

nice shot, David, and welcome to NPN! I like the details of the fluffed up plumage, and the way he's looking at you. I like the post he's on but personally could do without the wires. Good shot! :toast:

David. Very nice pose and well handled. This bird is almost as ugly as my Reed Cormorant

Well done.
