(c) Standing at the Edge
by Jorne de Bruin
Another Lynx from Spain (weirdly these are Eurasian Lynxes and not Iberian). Ideally the frame would have been lower here to emphasise the looking direction of the Lynx, however when moving the camera downward there was a really unattractive background (post+wooden fence)so I chose for the composition you see here. I still think it works but I'd love the hear some opinions on it.
This is probably my last post before the holidays so I wish everyone a merry Chirstmas!
Tech: a700, 300mm iso 800 & 1/640 @ f2.8 (the lynx was actually moving so I needed the iso to improve the shutterspeed

11 commentsI agree about toning down or cloning out the upper green.
Also, a minor nit is the tail disappears in the dark background.
I really like the feel of this photograph, and the cat is beautiful as it's portrayed!
I'm fine with the composition here - the positioning of the lynx in the frame doesn't bother me. I do find the bright green patch directly above the lynx at the top of the frame distracting - if the image were mine I'd probably desaturate and darken this a little.
Have a good Christmas and "see you" soon...

I love the photo; lynx are some of the coolest animals in my opinion. I think the image may have worked better with the lynx higher in the frame, but I understand why you couldn't and I think it still turned out great. Thats a really cool ravine in the background! Great Job!
