Winter Shadows

Here's one from last March. With the strength of the winds, I could barely stand, but at least it wasn't too cold.

I know that the extremely high contrast B&W conversion and total lack of shadow detail for the trees won't be everybody's cup of tea, but it was intentional.

I love the graphic nature of this Ken. The light on the snow is fantastic and very ethereal. It is my cup of tea since I love scenes like this. Well seen and processed.

Interesting approach. Normally these bullet-proof blacks would be way to much, but here they actually seem right.

Forboding and stark. Don't know if that was your intent, but it's what I'm picking up.

Nice, Kenn. Way to let 'er rip with the blacks. You have succeeded in conveying the feeling of the harsh conditions very well with your choice of exposure and processing. A finely crafted and well thought out image.

The stark contrast really makes the shot Kenn. It's nice to see the color black used in such a high percentage, which doesn't happen that often in the forum here.

I like the stark contrasts. I think this is a great photograph Kenn. I have a crop suggestion -a bit from the top - a kinda 3X4 ratio. I don't know why but the comp. gets even stronger for me. Maybe because it removes a bit the dark black corners at the top (but still leaves a bit).

I love this! The mood is very powerful. I really like the way you let things go to total black. I agree with Dietrich about a crop, but it also works as is. Well done!

Thanks for the comments.

I agree that a 3x4-ish ratio would also work well.

I like the dark trees against the white snow. Very nice.
