This photo was taken late in the afternoon at Portland's Washington Park Rose Garden. It was taken at ISO 100, f/9 @ 1/25 of a second with a Nikkor 105mm Micro f/2.8 lens on a tripod.

Raymond: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a fine first post here. This is a lovely trio and you've captured them superbly. I especially like the light on the blooms and your DOF choice. My only tiny 1¢ nit is the OOF flower in the URC. I might try to add a mild vignette to darken it just a bit but this works very well for me as is. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>

Hi Raymond, ...indeed... a fine shot. Glad to have a new voice and creative 'eye'. I like the light treatment which conveys beams reaching the individual blossoms. Glowing. Funny how the 105mm dof is so shallow even at f9 for this distance. The right flower being a smidge softer and further from lens...than the other two. Really like the dark blur b/g. Bill F brings up good idea about urc. I do like the curls and shadows on the center flwr. Well done.

I like the color, comp, and nice lighting. I agree about darkening the flower in the urc and the leaf below it to bring even more prominence to the trio.

Beautiful light and strong composition Raymond. I like the bg a lot with the exception of the rose that Bill noted and I agree that darkening it would improve the image for my tastes. Welcome to the gallery.

Gotta love that 105! So cool when in its macro mode. This shot is a fine example of putting it to great use with an artistic eye for these roses. The color and lighting look so good. Too bad a beam of light caught the urc; OTOH, I like the leaf that points back to the flowers, as if to encourage us not to go too far afield of this lovely trio.
