This image was captured last fall at a local park. I liked the pose, but wonder if it was not cropped to close. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for taking a look.

I like the vertical format. I would like to see a little more room around the subject. Also, if possible, by moving to the right, you may get more of the head and a little less of the back-end.

The tight crop doesn't bother me but I agree about moving to the right to get less of a back end view. Remove the rump and you have a nice head and shoulders of a fine specimen.

Beautiful photo of this deer Mike. Nice and sharp on the head. The rear profile is fine with me. a minor nit is the highlights behind the head as they tend to draw the eye away from the deer.

Hi Mike,

There's a different view of a deer! You wonder if it's cropped too close - in my opinion it's not cropped too close, but I think if you have room to the right I would shift the deer more to the left and open a little space to the right of the nose. I think this would slightly de-emphasize the butt a little (which I think would be a good thing) and have close to the same effect as what Dan suggested in terms of changing your position...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Brad

The others have already offered good observations, so I will just add that I like the "character" of this set of antlers with those somewhat gnarly turns. Thanks for sharing.

Handsome guy. Nice details. Just a bit too much butt for me. Maybe try Brad's suggestion.
